Night1

On the opening night of Melted Film Festival, we delve into explorations of natural resources, chemical compositions, data worlds and information infrastructures. This collection of films extends to beyond-human scopes, zooming in on the intricate details of the microscopic, while also encompassing vast spatial and temporal scales. When we then return our attention to the human experience we are reminded of the need to keep on questioning and imagining the world we live in.

On the second evening of Melted Film Festival, we welcome filmmakers whose work revolves around themes of identity and belonging. Traversing both the physical and digital realm, we are guided through explorations of the self, both as an individual and part of a collective. Navigating the fluidity of our identities, these films immerse us into rituals, folklore, and myth.

On the third evening, Melted Film Festival presents pieces that investigate how we honor, overpower, and divide the territories we share, as well as how the places we inhabit can determine the nature of our lives. From documentary to performance, we dance between the idyllic serenity of the land and the realities of human intervention.

On the final night of Melted Film Festival, we experience films that can only be described as being hard to define. Ranging from reflections on the medium of film itself to capturing lives in a fleeting moment, from texture explosions to absurdist snippets—or even audio-only—this experimental collection challenges what we expect from cinema.
